Soldier of WW1

Soldier of WW1

World War I Memorial, Tidworth

Bronze, 4′ high

The Royal British Legion asked for a smaller than life-size figure as a memorial to those billeted locally who had died in the service of their country.

The result is a four-foot-high WW1 soldier standing with his kitbag on his return from the front. Despite the pride in his stance, there is a hint of uncertainty in his expression.
